STORM PHYSICAL THERAPY, WELLNESS, & PEAK PERFORMANCE
When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.

Pre-Operative Physical Therapy for Your Scheduled Surgery
Prior to your scheduled surgery (Shoulder, Hip, Knee, Ankle, etc.), you will be assessed by our Doctor of Physical Therapy for a preoperative examination and preoperative treatment plan. The main purpose of this visit is to obtain information including the location and severity of your pain, your functional abilities, your strength, your available range of motion, and your flexibility and mobility.
Prior to undergoing a surgery, our experienced physical therapist will ensure you have the optimal functional ability to maximize your recovery. Our pre-operative program is an individually customized conditioning program designed to train your muscles and joints in advance for the exercises they will need to do following surgery.
Pre-operative rehabilitation has been shown to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, increase endurance, enhance overall fitness, restore range of motion and regain strength and flexibility in the joints and muscles of the entire body.
Our pre-operative treatment program helps you experience a faster recovery with better outcomes.

Post-Operative Physical Therapy Treatment
Physical therapy is typically indicated following an orthopedic surgery such as operations on the hip, knee, shoulder, wrist, hand, neck, foot, ankle, and spine to facilitate a speedy recovery. Physical therapy can begin anywhere from a few hours to a several days after surgery.
A patient’s ability to regain motion and strength and ultimately return to their daily activities often depends on physical therapy. Physical therapists are specifically trained to restore range of motion and strength without compensation and to prevent re-injury during the recovery process. The therapist can also provide specific guidelines to optimize tissue healing.
After a thorough evaluation, our physical therapist will develop a treatment plan focused on minimizing the adverse effects of surgery such as pain, swelling, weakness, decreased endurance and stiffness. The focus is to restore normal movement, flexibility and function. Our therapist will design a program tailored specific to your needs, goals, and abilities.
Post-operative treatments approaches may specifically include:
-
Strategies for pain management and can include modalities such as dry needling, cupping, fascial manipulation, and/or joint mobilization.
-
Flexibility and mobility exercises to improve range of motion
-
Exercises to strengthen muscles
-
Posture, balance, and coordination training
