INSTRUMENT-ASSISTED
SOFT TISSUE MANIPULATION
(IASTM)

Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, more commonly known as IASTM, is the use of tools to assess tissue quality and to treat areas identified to have limited mobility, scar tissue formation, soft tissue restrictions, chronic inflammation or degeneration.

Common diagnosis treated with IASTM include:

  • Plantar Fasciitis/Tendinitis

  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

  • ITB syndrome

  • Tennis and Golf Elbow (Lateral and Medial Epicondylitis)

  • Patellar Tendinitis/Tendinopathy

  • Achilles Tendinitis/Tendinopathy

  • TMJ

  • Great Toe Injuries

  • Trigger Finger

  • Neck/Back Strains

  • Hamstring Strains

  • Adductor Strains

  • Post-Op Incision

Research supports the theory that IASTM may have an impact on physiological changes by increasing blood flow, reducing tissue viscosity, assisting with myofascial release, interrupting pain receptors, and improving of flexibility of underlying tissue.

Vickie has taken numerous IASTM courses and is a Certified Graston Technician, a HawkGrips Certified Clinician, and a FAKTR trained physical therapist, all required advanced training in IASTM.
